Maria Charalambous

Social Worker

Maria Charalambous works at "Hope For Children" CRC Policy Center as a Support Officer at Homes For Hope for unaccompanied children, in Nicosia. Maria holds a Master’s in Career Counseling and Guidance, from the European University, Cyprus. Additionally, she has attended the specialization program in Education and Training of School Social Workers. Her master’s thesis, examined the views of employers and employees regarding the employment of people with mental illnesses in Cyprus.  She completed her practicum in Athens, Greece where she got involved in the professional integration of mental health recipients in the free labor market, applying the methodology of supported employment. 

Furthermore, Maria worked as a Social Worker at the Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family. She has experience as a Support Officer at the Christos Stelios Ioannou Foundation where her duties were mainly focused on the education of adults with mental disabilities in the areas of individual care, independent living and social development.
