Dr. Pinar Zubaroglu-Ioannides

Director of "Research & Development" Division

Dr. Pinar Zubaroglu-Ioannides is the Director for Research and Development Division at "Hope for Children" CRC Policy Center. She is responsible for coordinating research projects, creating collaborations with institutions and centers on interdisciplinary research and grants, drafting European and national funding proposals, and drafting and supervising production of Hope for Children publications.

She holds a bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Social Work from Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey, a Master’s Degree in Social Work/ Social Policy from Columbia University, New York, U.S., and completed her PhD in Social Work/Social Policy at Fordham University, New York, U.S.

Previously, Pinar has conducted research on policy and program evaluation, particularly in the areas of refugee resettlement policies, refugee wellbeing, mental health, women’s welfare, youth empowerment, international and interdisciplinary social work education, and the social impacts of COVID.

Her doctorate dissertation examined the impact of refugee resettlement policies in the U.S. on refugee wellbeing. Most recently, she co-authored “The current pandemic, a complex emergency? Mental health impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on highly vulnerable communities in Guatemala” in International Journal of Social Psychiatry and “Implementation of an initial mental health assessment for newly arrived refugees” in Journal of Social Service Research. Pinar was granted in 2015 with the Generation Jobless award by International House and Ford Foundation to implement Job, Training, Connection Project addressing the youth unemployment in Haiti.
